Machinery Crossing Improvements
The purpose of this project is to address and improve existing machinery crossings to improve water quality, address erosion, and improve streambank stability and condition. Project approvals are based on the application’s environmental merit (e.g. improving water quality, streambank stability, erosion mitigation, etc.).

Must complete an Environmental Farm Plan to be eligible.
Project Details
- Design by professional engineers may be advisable on complex and/or large projects. Supervision of construction is not mandatory yet may be specified as required by program representatives on large and/or complex projects.
- Projects must obtain approval from appropriate agencies prior to construction. In addition, any work done on municipal drains also requires prior approval from the municipality.
Eligible Projects
- Replacement or improvement of an existing agricultural field crossing for machinery access, including the costs for a new structure or replacement of an existing structure, stream bank restoration and stabilization and may include increasing the span of structures to minimize impacts from flood flows, erosion, etc.
- Does not include driveways/laneways for personal/private access or to create or facilitate residential access or for other non-agricultural purposes.
- There must be an environmental benefit (e.g. improving water quality, streambank stability, erosion mitigation, etc.)
Eligible Costs
Professional design, labour, supervision and material.
Ineligible Costs
- Labour and machinery use of applicant, family dependents, and the applicant’s business.
- Permits and fees.
